Hmong Wedding Inspirations | Minneapolis, Minnesota
A Hmong wedding is an inescapable part of many Hmong marriages. Hmong people are one of the many ethnic “hill tribes” who inhabit the regions of Southeast Asia and China. Hmong tribes will vary in dialect, language, and culture depending on which region they reside in. They are all collectively known for their intricate, colorful, and hand-embroidered clothing. The aesthetics of this styled Hmong wedding are inspired by Hmong clothing and culture. We selected a color palette that isn’t typically used in Hmong fashion. We also included traditional inspirations by adding tribal designs to modern elements.
Scarlett and Flora designed floral arrangements that were lively and vibrant. INK Sweets designed a beautiful cake that was inspired by Hmong embroidery. It was very difficult to find a Hmong outfit in our color palette because it is a very unconventional color combination in Hmong fashion. We spent hours looking for the right one and ultimately had to customize our own. Those sewing skills we learned finally came to use. Thanks to our mother who sewed a lot of Hmong clothes for us in our younger days.
