November is usually cold and gloomy in the Midwest. Therefore, we were absolutely delighted to be a part of Angela and Matthew’s Saddlerock Ranch wedding in Malibu, California. We couldn’t wait to get warm air and bathe in California’s sunlight.
The day started out with some fun door games that Angela’s bridesmaids had prepared for Matthew and his groomsmen. What are Chinese door games? Door games are tasks or challenges that are incorporated into traditional Chinese weddings. They are used to test the groom before he takes the beloved bride away. These games are played with love for both couples. Traditional Chinese families use these games to determine aspects of the couple’s future such as luck, children, and more. Then, after door games, everyone got ready and we headed to Saddlerock Ranch for a first look, portraits, and the beginning of the tea ceremony.
What is a tea ceremony? A Chinese tea ceremony occurs on the day of the wedding as the bride and groom serves tea to their parents, in-laws, and other family members. It is a meaningful part of the day that symbolizes the union of two families.
Next was the moment for walking down the aisle. Dressed in her beautiful Galia Lahav gown, Angela walked down the aisle with her beloved parents as they handed her off to Matthew. The beautiful couple exchanged sentimental words and tears and then we witnessed them become husband and wife. The rest of this Saddlerock Ranch wedding was filled with fun interactions with friends and family in Malibu’s sunset glows. Did someone say In-N-Out? You bet! In-N-Out burgers were served as a late night snack as everyone partied the night away.
